Brookdale Concordia Chorale
After 11 years as the Concordia Chorale, our 40-voice adult chamber choir became the resident chorus at Brookdale Community College in the fall of 2012. It is now the Brookdale Concordia Chorale. September brings our 15th season. We rehearse in the PAC building at Brookdale on Monday nights at 8pm. We sing the masterworks of the classical repertory and we have performed a wide range of major works by Bach, Handel and Mozart in particular. The selections for the 2016-2017 season include Beehoven’s Choral Fantasy, Charpentier’s Messe de Minuit and Conrad Susa’s Carols and Lullabies. In the spring of 2017 we are performing Rene Clausen’s settings of Native American poems: Crying for a Dream and we end the season with Handel’s 4 Coronation Anthems.
As well as performing regular seasons of local concerts, the Brookdale Concordia Chorale has performed in New York City. In May 2014 the Chorale joined other choirs at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center for the world premiere of Rene Clausen’s Festival Te Deum and in February 2012 the Chorale participated in a concert of music by Greg Gilpin at Carnegie Hall. Members of the Chorale also participated with the Concordia Youth Chorale in a performance of John Rutter’s Mass of the Children in 2004.
