Brookdale Concordia Chorale
After 11 years as the Concordia Chorale, our 60-voice adult chamber choir became the resident chorus at Brookdale Community College in the fall of 2012. It is now the Brookdale Concordia Chorale. September brings us to our 18th season. We rehearse in the Performing Arts Center building at Brookdale Lincroft campus on Monday nights at 8pm. We sing the masterworks of the classical repertory and we have performed a wide range of major works by Bach, Handel and Mozart in particular.
The 2018-2019 season will include:
Cherubini’s Requiem in C minor (requested by Beethoven for his own funeral)
A Christmas Celebration (on the stage of Radio City Music Hall)
John Rutter’s Gloria (which we will sing at Carnegie Hall in May with the composer conducting)
Monteverdi’s Gloria (also part of the Carnegie Hall concert)
John Rutter’s Feel the Spirit, a suite of African-American spirituals
George Shearing’s Songs & Sonnets, a wonderful suite of Shakespeare settings
Kallman’s In Endless Song (a spirited medley of American folk songs)
In late June we travel to China for a four city concert tour of music selected from this season’s repertory.
